Evelyn’s Easy Homemade Cranberry Sauce with Tangerine Essential Oil

Homemade Tangerine Cranberry SauceIf you have never made your own cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving or Christmas you will enjoy this super easy, nutritious, absolutely delicious recipe. You and your dinner guests will love the simplicity and beauty of the ‘real’ thing.

In 1992, I learned this cranberry sauce recipe at a cooking class I was taking – I have since adapted it by simply including a touch of Tangerine essential oil, which takes the flavor to a whole new dimension! You can substitute the Tangerine oil with Orange… but do be extremely mindful as not all essential oils are edible, this is the brand I recommend.

After making your own cranberry sauce and discovering just how easy it to make your own you will never buy or serve canned again!

Homemade Cranberry Sauce with Tangerine Essential Oil

  • 1 1/2 cups organic natural sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups water
  • 16 oz package organic cranberries
  • 1-2 drops food grade Tangerine Essential Oil* (add one drop at a time and taste) – if you prefer Lemon or Orange essential oil go ahead and substitute it for the Tangerine!
  • Optional: you can also add a grated apple to the recipe

Over Medium-high heat sugar and water to boiling. Add cranberries, and return to boiling. Reduce heat to low and cover and simmer for about 7 minutes or until cranberries pop.

Let mixture cool, then add Young Living Tangerine essential oil to taste, refrigerate for 2 or more hours, serve. Yum!

Extra Tip: I make extra of this recipe and freeze it so we can enjoy it for a longer period of time – it freezes nicely!

About Tangerine Essential Oil

Tangerine (Citrus reticulata) is a calming essential oil with a sweet, tangy aroma, similar to orange. It helps with occasional nervous irritability. An excellent oil to help uplift the spirit and bring about a sense of security, tangerine is also rich in the powerful antioxidant d-limonene. Tangerine may also be used to enhance the flavor of food only if it is superior quality (therapeutic-grade) and states on the label it is safe for dietary use. Young Living Tangerine oil is food-grade quality and can be used in cooking and as a dietary supplement.

*This is the food grade essential oil I use, do not use lesser grades as that will be very unhealthy and dangerous.*
